The Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) marked a milestone with its 35th Annual Convocation Ceremony held on Thursday, 25th September, 2025, at its Afaka permanent site in Kaduna State. Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima graced the event as Special Guest of Honour, while Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar was represented by Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa.
Speaking at the ceremony, NDA Commandant Major General A K Ibrahim highlighted the institution’s academic programmes are fully accredited by the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC). “The management’s passion for capacity building, discipline, optimum performance and skills has propelled most of its cadets to excel in their various disciplines in foreign missions,” Ibrahim said.
The ceremony featured conferment of degrees on 72 Regular Course Cadets and postgraduate students, presentation of certificates, academic prizes, admission of postgraduate graduands into NDA Alumni, and award of honorary degrees. Graduates included Cadet Officers, Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s, and Ph.D holders across various disciplines. CDT G.A. Olowokere won the Minister of Defence Award as best graduating cadet in Engineering and Technology. A total of 2,618 students graduated.
Honorary degrees recognised eminent Nigerians distinguished in service to humanity. Dignitaries included Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr Sunday Musa Attah. Enderline Chukwu, Assistant Director Information and Public Relations, noted the convocation underscored NDA’s commitment to excellence.
