Nanyuki – The quiet town of Nanyuki is gripped by grief following the heartbreaking discovery of 20-year-old Risper Faith’s body in a local lodging, sparking widespread mourning and calls for justice as police intensify pursuit of her ex-husband Elvis Ndegwa, 21, linked to the tragedy.
According to Risper’s distraught father, his punctual daughter vanished after leaving home around noon to head into town – a trip she initiated by asking him for 200 shillings transport money while he worked. Her non-return by evening prompted unanswered calls and rising panic. “She was always on time,” he recalled painfully.
Next morning he searched KFC at FIA Mall – a favorite Risper haunt – but found no trace. Heading to report her disappearance to police, he stopped at a hospital mortuary. “Describing her brown-and-white braids to staff… they confirmed the unclaimed body was Risper,” he said, voice cracking.
Police say Risper checked into 1950 Lodging with Elvis; plans for an overnight stay ended in horror when staff checking on their unusual silence discovered her lifeless form. Elvis reportedly bolted; Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives track him as prime suspect.
Risper had accused Elvis of past assault, withdrawing the claim February this year. Her death ignites fresh outrage over Kenya’s femicide surge. “We cry out for justice, arrest and prosecution of whoever ended her promising young life,” grieving loved ones and townspeople echoed. Absence of lodging CCTV cameras hampers probe into grisly events, authorities note amid community shock.
