Abuja – The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) Police have apprehended a man who vandalized portions of the Kaduna rail track, following a swift and coordinated investigation. The breakthrough has drawn commendations from stakeholders, highlighting the proactive leadership and dedication of the NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa.
The suspect was caught after the corporation’s surveillance and security units, working in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, intensified monitoring of critical sections of the rail line. The suspect had allegedly attempted to remove vital track components, posing a potential danger to train operations and passengers’ safety.
Speaking on the development, Dr. Opeifa reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on rail vandalism and other forms of sabotage against the corporation’s infrastructure. “The NRC, under my watch, has invested heavily in surveillance technology, community partnerships, and security coordination to ensure the protection of railway assets nationwide,” he said.
Observers have lauded Dr. Opeifa’s prompt action, describing it as evidence of his focused leadership and determination to sustain the integrity of the rail system, particularly on the busy Abuja-Kaduna corridor. The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.
Under Dr. Opeifa’s leadership, the NRC has continued to record significant achievements in safety, infrastructure maintenance, and service delivery, reinforcing public confidence in Nigeria’s rail transportation system.
