The recent road crash that claimed the life of Dr. Emmanuel, a lecturer at the Federal University, Lokoja, has sent shockwaves through the academic community. The incident has reignited concerns about road safety in the region, particularly on the Obajana-Lokoja Road, which has witnessed several fatal accidents in recent times.

In May 2025, a similar crash claimed 19 lives, including five children, prompting Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to order stricter enforcement of traffic laws. However, despite these measures, accidents have continued to plague the road, with another ten lives lost in a crash on October 12 this year.

Dr. Emmanuel’s students described her as a beacon of light who encouraged them to dream big, speak boldly, and act with empathy. “The department feels empty without her voice,” they said, mourning the loss of a dedicated teacher who had a profound impact on their lives.

The Federal University, Lokoja, is set to honour her memory, and the stage she so passionately brought to life now dims in silence, a testament to a life cut short too soon.
