The Senate has fixed Wednesday for the confirmation of appointments of Chief of Defence Staff, Lt-General Olufemi Oluyede, and the newly appointed Service Chiefs.
This decision followed requests made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in two separate letters to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, citing section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act cap A 20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The appointments to be confirmed include Major-General Waidi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff.
The Senate President referred the requests to the committee of the whole, announcing Wednesday as the date for screening and confirmation.
