A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, the Speaker, and five others to appear before it to show cause why they should not be stopped from impeaching the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo.
The order was given by Justice Emeka on October 27, while ruling on an ex-parte motion filed by the Deputy Governor against the Assembly, the Speaker, and others.
The Deputy Governor is seeking an order restraining the defendants from removing or impeaching him as Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, citing his decision not to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
The court has adjourned the case till November 13 for hearing of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction against the defendants.
