The African Democratic Congress has issued a stark warning about the future of Nigerian democracy following the Anambra State governorship election. The party alleged that the November 8, 2025, poll was marred by massive financial inducements, with bundles of naira notes changing hands in full view at polling units. In a statement, the ADC condemned the conduct, stating it undermines the very essence of democracy. The party also criticized the silence and inaction of security and electoral bodies, alleging security operatives looked away and some electoral officials appeared overwhelmed or indifferent. The ADC warned that if the Independent National Electoral Commission does not address these issues, it sets a troubling precedent for the 2027 general elections. Reaffirming its commitment to clean politics, the ADC emphasized that leadership should be earned through integrity, inclusion, and service, not through the crude exchange of cash for votes.
