Senate President Godswill Akpabio presented 10 outboard engine fishing boats to women and cooperative societies from Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District at his Ukana country home on Boxing Day. The boats, equipped with fishing nets, refrigerators, and extra fuel tanks, aim to boost riverine communities’ economic activities. Larger boats feature double 75-horsepower engines, smaller ones 40-horsepower.
“I can never forget your love, prayers, support. We’re standing strong because you’re still praying,” Akpabio said, urging them to support President Bola Tinubu in 2027 and “drag votes” for APC. His wife, Dr. Ekaette Akpabio, thanked him for remembering riverine women, saying “he’s Senate President for all Nigerians”.
Beneficiary Mma Nkoyo Isong praised the “life-changing” gesture, promising reciprocal support. NDDC’s Dr. Victor Antai coordinated distribution. Akpabio also lauded Governor Umo Eno: “He’s touching lives, prioritizing human capital”.
