Veteran journalist Chief Dele Momodu has cautioned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against actions that could spark internal turmoil. Writing in “My Candid Advice to ADC: Avoid Another Wike Scenario,” Momodu warned that failure to enforce discipline could lead to turbulence like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) experienced.
Momodu, who attended the ADC’s founding meeting, praised its formation as a coalition to challenge the ruling APC. He lauded ex-Senate President David Mark’s appointment as chairman, citing his military background for ensuring order. But he now sees “rising aggression and intolerance” among factions, risking derailment.
“A group trying to unilaterally select the presidential candidate without a transparent, democratic process” worries him. “The ADC risks repeating PDP’s mistakes if indiscipline festers,” he cautioned, referencing former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike’s PDP influence. Momodu urged ADC leaders to foster “love, cooperation, mutual respect” instead of conflict.
“The ADC should embody solidarity, not chaos,” he concluded, amid growing public interest in the party as an opposition rallying point.
