The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has successfully salvaged a 45,000-litre diesel tanker that overturned at Liverpool Bridge, outward Apapa, Tin Can Island, Lagos. The tanker has been secured, and transloading of the remaining contents is underway. Security agents are working to keep the scooping crowd at bay.
“The tanker has been saved from secondary incident while security agents are doing their best to curtail the scooping crowd,” said authorities. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) are on the scene, and the area is now secure.
The incident occurred early Monday morning, with emergency responders quickly mobilizing to contain the situation. “Our attention was drawn to a fallen tanker at the above location which was leaking fuel. All emergency responders were immediately activated and deployed to the scene,” said Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA.
Authorities are urging motorists to take alternative routes as traffic is being diverted. The road on Liverpool Bridge inward Apapa has been reopened after the contents were neutralized by men of Lagos State Fire Service.
