Abuja, Nigeria – The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reportedly unearthed a significant portfolio of real estate assets in Egypt linked to Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State. The discovery comes amid ongoing investigations into alleged financial misappropriations during El-Rufai’s tenure.
Sources close to the investigation disclosed that these properties were acquired between 2021 and 2023, a period when El-Rufai was still serving as governor. Among the properties traced to him are a villa in Arabilla estate, 5th settlement area in Cairo; another villa located in Banafsik estate, 1st settlement area, New Cairo; and a third villa in Oriana II, New Cairo, situated near the American University.
Further investigations by the anti-corruption agency have also identified four apartments in Cairo Festival City and an additional two apartments within the Oriana Estate, New Cairo, as part of El-Rufai’s alleged holdings.
The ICPC’s probe centers on accusations of financial misconduct during El-Rufai’s governorship of Kaduna State, which spanned from 2015 to 2023. El-Rufai has been in the custody of the ICPC since February 18, 2026.
Prior to his detention by the ICPC, El-Rufai faced questioning from the Department of State Services (DSS). This earlier interrogation focused on his claim that the phone of National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, had been tapped, adding another layer to the controversies surrounding the former governor.
