Abuja – The African Democratic Congress ADC has slammed recent defections by Enugu and Bayelsa governors to the ruling All Progressives Congress APC as conspiracy to turn Nigeria into one-party state vindicating opposition coalition’s stance.
“The recent defections by governors of Enugu and Bayelsa States to the ruling All Progressives Congress validates African Democratic Congress’s long-standing warning that President Bola Tinubu is determined to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, no matter the cost to democracy and national stability,” ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi stated.
Abdullahi accused governors betraying long-suffering people by joining the gang-up against Nigerians describing defections as “historic political apostasy” driven by cowardice and selfish considerations. “These governors abandoned their people, not out of conviction but out of cowardice and other selfish considerations,” he said.
ADC insists opposition is unbothered by the “political apostasy” with governors predicting 2027 elections a clear battle between the people of Nigeria and APC. “2027 will be a clear battle between people of Nigeria and President Tinubu and his gang of APC governors,” Abdullahi declared.
ADC highlights APC’s failures in insecurity, economic management, healthcare, social welfare, corruption and restoring Nigeria’s international standing while contributing abject poverty, unbearable living conditions for majority of Nigerians. Opposition coalition sees defections clarifying the line between those committed to saving the country and those joining the “gravy train”.
