The Federal Government has said it is ready to collaborate with the United States and other countries to completely eliminate the remnants of terrorists and criminal elements operating in Nigeria. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the statement during a world press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
Idris acknowledged that Nigeria continues to grapple with security challenges but clarified that such threats “are not targeted at any religion or ethnic group, contrary to claims based on ‘faulty data’.” He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has, in the last two years, demonstrated renewed commitment to tackling insecurity.
According to the minister, this commitment is reflected in Nigeria’s improved ranking on the Global Terrorism Index and the recent overhaul of the nation’s security leadership. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has in the last two years demonstrated renewed commitment to tackling insecurity, which is reflected in Nigeria’s improved ranking on the Global Terrorism Index and the recent overhaul of the nation’s security leadership,” Idris said.
