Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi State on Wednesday to convey his deep sympathy to the families of the abducted schoolgirls and to assure them that the Federal Government will spare no effort to bring their daughters home safely. The Vice President, speaking in Birnin Kebbi, said, “Kebbi’s pain is Nigeria’s pain. When one child is taken, every home in this nation grieves. When girls in the safety of their classroom are seized by criminals, our collective conscience is assaulted.” He added that President Tinubu is “deeply troubled by this tragedy” and that the government will use “every instrument of the state” to rescue the girls and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Vice President also extended condolences to the family of the late Brigadier‑General Musa Uba and the late Vice Principal of the school, saying, “We also honour the ultimate sacrifice made by some of our brave officers. To the family of the late Brigadier‑General Musa Uba, we say: his sacrifice will never be forgotten.” He praised the Governor of Kebbi State, Muhammed Nasir Idris, and community leaders for their cooperation, and thanked the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Police, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies for their gallantry.
Governor Idris thanked President Tinubu for his support and leadership, expressing optimism that the girls would soon be rescued. He also thanked Vice President Shettima for his concern and reaffirmed Kebbi’s commitment to the Tinubu administration and to working with the Federal Government to secure the release of the girls.
Among those present at the event were National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Prof. Nantawe Yitwada, Deputy Governor of Kebbi State Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Sen Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Women Affairs Hajiya Iman Suleiman Ibrahim, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Dr Bernard Fori, Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs Dr Tanko Sununu Yusuf, members of the National Assembly, State House of Assembly members, former Governor Usman Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, Senator Bala Ibn Na Allah, Director General of NEMA Hajiya Zubaida Umar, Secretary to Kebbi State Government Yakubu Bala and other senior officials.
Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of the Vice President), signed the release on 19 November 2025. The Vice President reiterated that Nigeria will not rest until the girls are safely returned, and that the nation stands with Kebbi in this difficult time. Stanley Nkwocha later added that the government’s resolve remains firm, and that every effort is being made to bring the girls home. Stanley Nkwocha also noted that the federal government will continue to support the families of the fallen officers and the victims of the attack.
