CAF DISCIPLINARY BOARD HANDS DOWN SANCTIONS TO SENEGAL AND MOROCCO OVER AFCON FINAL INCIDENTS

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has imposed sanctions on the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) and the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) for incidents during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final.

Senegal’s head coach, Pape Bouna Thiaw, has been suspended for five official CAF matches and fined $100,000 for unsporting conduct. Players Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr have been suspended for two official CAF matches each for unsporting behavior towards the referee.

The FSF has been fined $300,000 for the improper conduct of its supporters, $300,000 for the unsporting conduct of players and technical staff, and $15,000 for the misconduct of its national team due to five players receiving cautions.

Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi has been suspended for two official CAF matches, with one match suspended for one year, while Ismaël Saibari has been suspended for three official CAF matches and fined $100,000 for unsporting behavior.

The FRMF has been fined $200,000 for the inappropriate behavior of stadium ball boys, $100,000 for the improper conduct of players and technical staff, and $15,000 for the use of lasers by supporters.

CAF rejected Morocco’s protest regarding alleged violations by Senegal of Articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations.
