The Awujale Kingmakers Council has postponed an interactive session with shortlisted Awujale nominees at the Aafin Awujale due to a directive from the Department of State Services (DSS) requiring nominees to appear before them in Ijebu-Ode.
In a letter dated January 20, 2026, addressed to leaders of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, the council instructed nominees to report to the DSS office at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. “The security directive made it impossible to proceed with the palace engagement,” the council stated, apologizing for any inconvenience caused.
The notice, signed by Secretary Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja, emphasized the need for strict compliance and punctual attendance by all nominees. The Fusengbuwa Ruling House had previously nominated 95 candidates for the Awujale stool, which became vacant after Oba Sikiru Adetona’s death in July 2025.
