PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES TAIWO OYEDELE AS MINISTER OF STATE FOR FINANCE, UZOKA-ANITE MOVES TO BUDGET AND NATIONAL PLANNING

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, signaling a significant change in his cabinet. The nomination was conveyed to the Senate for confirmation today, March 3, 2026, in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Oyedele will replace Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who will now assume the role of Minister of State for Budget and National Planning. This marks Uzoka-Anite’s third portfolio within the current administration.

Before his nomination, Mr. Oyedele, 50, from Ikaram, Akoko, Ondo State, served as the distinguished chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he spearheaded an extensive overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system. He is widely recognized as an economist, accountant, and public policy expert.

Oyedele’s academic background includes a Higher National Diploma (HND) in accountancy and finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University. His professional development further includes executive education programmes at prestigious institutions such as the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

His extensive career includes 22 years at PwC, which he joined in 2001, rising to the prominent position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. In addition to his professional achievements, Oyedele is also a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
