Rotary Clubs in Osun State have partnered with the Osun Health Insurance Agency and the Rasaq Akindele Foundation to provide free eye and dental treatment to more than 500 residents.
The intervention began on Monday, October 12, at Platinum Embassy Specialist Hospital, opposite New Ede City Stadium, Owode-Ede Road. About 150 people are scheduled to benefit from surgery.
The Coordinator, Rtn. Dr. Rasaq Akindele, said the initiative followed observations during visits to eye and dental clinics and correctional facilities. He said screening covered over 300 people with eye defects and over 200 with dental problems.
“Service is not what we do, it is who we are. Our motto is ‘Service Above Self’, and today, we are living that motto in a very practical way,” Akindele said.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. Adekunle Akindele, who represented Governor Ademola Adeleke, commended the groups and said the state has renovated over 200 primary healthcare centres.
