Galatasaray secured a fourth consecutive Turkish Super Lig title on Saturday after a dramatic 4-2 home win over Antalyaspor, with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen scoring twice in the second half to complete a comeback at Rams Park in Istanbul.

The victory on May 9, 2026, gave Galatasaray an unassailable four-point lead over second-placed Fenerbahce with one match remaining, clinching the club’s record 26th league championship. The Istanbul side also matched its own historic run of four straight titles achieved between 1996 and 2000 under legendary coach Fatih Terim.

Antalyaspor stunned the home crowd when Soner Dikmen headed the visitors into the lead before the break. Mario Lemina equalised for Galatasaray in the 57th minute, but Dikmen restored Antalyaspor’s advantage with a free kick in the 63rd minute.

Osimhen then took charge. He converted a penalty in the 66th minute to make it 2-2, before netting the decisive goal in the 89th minute with a close-range flick that was deflected past the goalkeeper. Kaan Ayhan added a fourth in stoppage time to seal the 4-2 result and ignite celebrations across the stadium.

“Keep talking. We’ll be back here next season. We’ll come again next season. We’re coming,” Osimhen said in a live broadcast after the match. “Istanbul is ours. We’ll handle it. I promise you. You’re just trying. Keep trying. Many of you can’t do anything! Whatever you do, you can’t stop me, you can’t stop us! You won’t be able to stop us!”

Galatasaray went into the match needing victory to become unreachable after missing an earlier chance to seal the title in a 4-1 defeat at Samsunspor last weekend. Coach Okan Buruk’s side has again set the pace in a tense title race, recovering from setbacks to keep Fenerbahce at arm’s length and underline their grip on the Turkish league.

The win guarantees Galatasaray automatic qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League group stage. The club reached the knock-out round this year, notably routing Juventus along the way.

Osimhen, 25, finished the match with 15 league goals in 22 appearances this season and 22 goals in all competitions. He joined Galatasaray from Napoli last summer and has now won league titles in three consecutive seasons, including his Serie A triumph with Napoli in the 2023/24 campaign. This marks his second Super Lig title with the Istanbul club.

The result sparked celebrations at RAMS Park and across Istanbul, with TV footage showing fans waving flags and torches, chanting and dancing with delight in cities around the country. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated the team in a social media post on the Turkish platform NSosyal, saying, “I sincerely congratulate Galatasaray, its players, technical staff, management and supporters, on becoming Trendyol Süper Lig champions for the fourth consecutive time.”

With the title, coach Okan Buruk entered elite company in Turkish football history. Buruk played under Fatih Terim during the club’s 1996-2000 title run and has now matched that record as manager, praised by media outlets for maintaining consistency despite pressure from a heavily financed Fenerbahçe side.

Fenerbahce, runners-up for the fifth straight season, saw their wait for a first league title since 2014 continue. The club sacked their coach and sporting director the day after their derby defeat to Galatasaray last month.

Galatasaray is now the most successful Turkish club with 26 titles, further widening their lead over fierce rivals Fenerbahçe in the all-time standings.
