The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, and Equity has warned political actors in Delta State against using blackmail and malicious narratives to undermine the All Progressives Congress transition models.

In a statement issued in Abuja on May 24, 2026, the group said it had noted coordinated attempts by Senator Ned Nwoko and his media handlers to demarket and de-legitimize the victory of former Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. Okowa clinched the APC Delta North Senatorial ticket in what the coalition described as a transparent, keenly contested primary election.

The Coalition said the resort to media blackmail by the Ned Nwoko camp was “a classic case of political sour grapes following a crushing defeat at the polls where the grassroots clearly rejected his representation.”

It added that for a lawmaker who recently defected to the APC, “attempting to destabilize the party’s new-found cohesion in Delta State simply because democratic outcomes did not favor his personal ambition is a disservice to the party and the entire polity.”

The group stated that the primary election that produced Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for Delta North, alongside the affirmation of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the APC Governorship flagbearer, “represents the authentic, baseline will of the party’s grassroots.”

It called on Senator Ned Nwoko to “maturely accept the outcome of the Delta North APC primaries, embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, and cease all subtle or overt attempts to de-market the ticket holder.”

“No amount of sponsored media distractions can erase the statutory validity of Dr. Okowa’s victory. The parameters of internal party democracy have been fully satisfied,” the statement read.

The Coalition urged the National Working Committee of the APC to protect its victorious candidates in Delta State from internal sabotage and focus on building a unified front ahead of the general elections.

The statement was signed by Comrade James Okoronkwo, National Coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, and Equity.
