Tensions between Iran and Israel/US reached a boiling point as the United States and Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Iran, targeting bridges, power plants, and military infrastructure. The attacks, which began on April 6, 2026, have resulted in at least 25 deaths and widespread destruction.

Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, warned that 14 million Iranians, including himself, are ready to sacrifice their lives in the war. “A few minutes ago, one of the bridges on Qom’s communication lines, outside the city of Qom and in the west of the province, was attacked by American and Zionist enemy projectiles,” said Morteza Heydari, Deputy Governor of the province.

The Israeli military confirmed the airstrikes, stating they targeted Iranian “regime infrastructure” in Tehran and other areas. “A short while ago, the IDF completed an air strike wave with the aim of damaging Iranian terror regime infrastructure in Tehran and additional areas across Iran,” the military said in a statement.

US President Donald Trump threatened to destroy Iran’s civilian infrastructure if it doesn’t agree to a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. “We have a plan… where every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o’clock tomorrow night, where every power plant in Iran will be out of business, burning, exploding, and never to be used again,” Trump said.

Iran has rejected a ceasefire proposal, insisting on a permanent end to the war. The country’s top joint military command described Trump’s warnings as “rude, arrogant rhetoric and baseless threats”.
