Veteran Nigerian actor Davis Ofor, popularly known as Clarus in the iconic TV series New Masquerade, has passed away. The news was confirmed by fellow actor Tony Akposheri, alias Zacky, who expressed his grief, saying, “Today, my heart is heavy. Rest well, my friend. You came, you gave joy, you made your mark, and you will never be forgotten”.
Clarus, a beloved character in the 1980s and 1990s sitcom, was known for his comedic role as the wide-eyed houseboy working alongside Gringory Akabuogu, played by the late James Iroha. After leaving the entertainment industry, Ofor became a minister of God and resided in Aba, focusing on his spiritual ministry.
Tributes have poured in for the late actor, with many reminiscing about his contributions to Nigerian television. “It is hard to believe that the voice I heard not long ago is now a memory. Hard to accept that someone so full of life can suddenly become a story we tell,” Akposheri added.
