LAGOS – Seyi Tinubu has publicly addressed the burgeoning online controversy involving activist VeryDarkMan and influencer King Mitchy, firmly denying any involvement or links to the dispute. In a direct statement, Tinubu dismissed the allegations as “false, misleading, and deliberately created to damage his image.”

The controversy initially ignited when King Mitchy announced the renovation of a public school in Delta State within six days, presenting it as an example of swift change driven by young Nigerians. However, VeryDarkMan strongly reacted, accusing her of promoting a political agenda and indirectly supporting the current administration. The situation escalated, with VeryDarkMan eventually implicating Seyi Tinubu, claiming Mitchy’s project had political backing and alleging threats to his own life.

In response, Seyi Tinubu explicitly rejected all accusations, clarifying that he has no private relationship or undisclosed dealings with King Mitchy. “Let me be clear: the allegations and insinuations made about me are false,” he stated. He further explained that his only interactions with Mitchy were public and his support for her NGO was consistent with his backing of numerous youth initiatives across Nigeria. “There has never been a private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind,” Tinubu asserted.

He criticized the attempt to associate his name with a dispute he did not initiate, stating, “A feud I did not start has been used to insert my name into a narrative without basis in truth.” Tinubu emphasized his resolve, declaring, “I will not be bullied, and I will not dignify fiction with panic.”

The conflict took a distressing turn with reports indicating that King Mitchy attempted self-harm during a livestream following intense online harassment. This development prompted widespread concern among Nigerians, leading to calls for calm and a reduction in online hostility.

Seyi Tinubu also condemned toxic online behavior, underscoring that digital harassment can lead to severe emotional consequences. He urged Nigerians to promote unity, truth, and responsible public discussion, stressing that philanthropy should not be politicized. “Nigeria needs builders, not bullies. We need responsible discourse, not sensationalism driven by speculation,” he concluded.

This controversy highlights the rapid spread of misinformation online and the increasing impact of social media conflicts within Nigeria’s public discourse. Many observers now anticipate a greater emphasis on calmer engagement, verified facts, and responsible communication from all involved parties.
