The Federation Account Allocation Committee has shared a total of N2.257 trillion to the Federal Government, state governments and local government councils as revenue for April 2026.

The disclosure was made on Monday by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation after the May 2026 FAAC meeting held in Abuja. In a statement signed by Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, the total distributable revenue comprised N1.260 trillion statutory revenue, N747.088 billion Value Added Tax, and N250 billion augmentation.

A breakdown showed that the Federal Government received N787.351 billion, state governments got N772.360 billion, while local government councils shared N540.152 billion. Oil-producing states also received N157.254 billion as 13 per cent derivation revenue.

From the N1.260 trillion statutory revenue, the Federal Government received N580.942 billion, states got N294.661 billion and local governments received N227.172 billion. The oil-producing states received the same N157.254 billion as derivation from the statutory component.

For VAT, the N747.088 billion was shared with the Federal Government receiving N74.709 billion, states receiving N410.898 billion and local government councils receiving N261.481 billion. The committee also distributed the N250 billion augmentation, with the Federal Government getting N131.700 billion, states receiving N66.800 billion and local governments N51.500 billion.

Total gross revenue collected in April stood at N3.184 trillion. From this amount, N113.756 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while N813.839 billion went to transfers, refunds and savings.

The committee attributed the higher revenue performance to improved collections from several major tax and non-tax sources. “In April 2026, Companies Income Tax, CGT, SDT, Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalty and Value Added Tax increased significantly while Petroleum Profit Tax and Hydrocarbon Tax decreased considerably. Excise Duty and CET Levies decreased marginally,” the communiqué stated.

Gross statutory revenue rose to N2.378 trillion in April, up from N1.699 trillion recorded in March, representing an increase of N678.224 billion. VAT collections also improved, rising to N806.617 billion compared with N664.425 billion in March.

The April allocation marks the highest monthly distribution since the removal of fuel subsidy, surpassing the N2.036 trillion shared in March 2026.
