The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made a significant commitment, vowing to at least double the votes garnered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election during the upcoming 2027 general elections. The party stressed the importance of reciprocating the support from Tinubu, whom it credits for establishing political platforms for members and driving substantial development through the creation of additional council areas within the state.

Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the State Chairman of the party, delivered this assurance during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected state executives at the party secretariat in Acme, Ogba, Lagos. Ojelabi highlighted that the new executives are stepping into their roles at a crucial juncture, as the party gears up for the 2027 general elections and the emergence of its candidates.

According to Ojelabi, the new leadership faces high expectations, with all eyes on them to see “whether they will strengthen the party’s achievements and sustain its dominance since 1999.” He appealed for a unified purpose among party leaders, urging them to “set aside factional interests and work collectively for the overall success of the party at the polls.”

The APC chairman also advised members of the executive council to consistently attend ward and local government meetings, emphasizing that the party must “operate as one family in order to secure victory in 2027.” Ojelabi further guaranteed that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, would ensure “an enabling environment to boost the party’s performance in the forthcoming elections.”

In related news, 37 executive members of the party were officially endorsed during the recently concluded State Congress, which took place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
