The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, has visited the Defence Space Administration’s (DSA) Management and facilities in Abuja, emphasizing the need for sustained collaboration to strengthen institutional effectiveness. In his remarks, Pheelangwah highlighted the DSA’s crucial role in modern warfare, leveraging satellite data and geospatial information to support national defense and sovereignty.

Director, Press & Public Relations, Queenet Iheoma-Hart, noted in a statement that Pheelangwah acknowledged the DSA’s accomplishments, placing it at a competitive status locally and globally. He called for stronger Military-Civilian collaboration, targeted training development, and prudence in financial management. Pheelangwah also recognized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership support and the Honourable Ministers of Defence’s guidance.

The Chief of Defence Space Administration, Major General Phillip Ilodibia, appreciated the Ministry’s support and highlighted challenges such as inadequate accommodation, funding, and advisory role exclusion. Ilodibia proposed that national security space issues be handled by DSA, while other entities focus on non-military and non-security issues.

Pheelangwah’s team was shown around DSA facilities, including the Geospatial Intelligence, Fusion and Data Centre, Cyber Centre, and Laboratory.
