The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The FCT Administration disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

According to the statement, Wike has approved the establishment of a new division within the Department of Land Administration to handle all matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT, taking over the responsibilities previously discharged by the now-dissolved committee.

The administration explained that the secretariat had remained operational after the committee concluded its assignment, in order to resolve issues arising from its earlier activities. With its formal closure now in effect, members of the public have been directed to approach the Department of Land Administration for all matters concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The FCT Administration also raised the alarm over fraudsters who may attempt to exploit the dissolution of the committee and the shutdown of its secretariat to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

“Members of the public are also urged to be mindful of the antics and activities of fraudsters who parade themselves as staff, officers and members of the defunct Ad-Hoc Committee/Secretariat on SFGH as the committee and secretariat no longer exist,” the statement said.
