FIRST LADY OLUREMI TINUBU CHAMPIONS MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTHCARE IN GOMBE STATE COMMISSIONING

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has underscored the critical importance of maternal and child healthcare as a cornerstone of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. In a statement, Special Assistant to the First Lady (Media), Busola Kukoyi, highlighted Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s remarks during the commissioning of the 100-bed Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Maternal and Child Specialist Hospital in Gombe State on Friday.

“The commissioning of this hospital is not just the unveiling of a building; it is the opening of doors to life, to hope, and to a healthier future for our mothers and our children,” Oluremi Tinubu declared. She emphasized that healthcare, particularly maternal and child health, lies at the heart of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, aiming “to ensure that every Nigerian child has a healthy start in life, and that no mother dies while birthing life”.

Oluremi Tinubu expressed confidence in the facility’s potential impact, saying “It is my belief that this facility will provide quality healthcare services, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and bring relief to families in Gombe State and beyond”. She commended stakeholders in the health sector, urging them to ensure every Nigerian child has a healthy start and no mother loses her life bringing forth life.

The First Lady extended her appreciation to the Office of Sustainable Development Goals for constructing the hospital and their efforts toward achieving Nigeria’s SDG targets. “As we commission this hospital today, I encourage all stakeholders, medical professionals, community leaders, and citizens to ensure that it serves its noble purpose with excellence, compassion, and integrity,” Oluremi Tinubu stated.

Following the hospital’s commissioning, Oluremi Tinubu proceeded to inaugurate the ultra-modern New College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gombe, engaging warmly with enthusiastic students grateful for her presence. Concluding her two-day visit to Gombe State, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has returned to Abuja.
