Abuja – The Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) has introduced a comprehensive digital enrolment process for institutions, organisations, workers, and students, underscoring a paperless, contactless approach. According to Haula Galadima, NERD’s Executive Director of Communication and Cyber Security, the initiative leverages online platforms to facilitate seamless registration without requiring physical presence.

“All enrolment activities are completed online in real time through our official website,” Galadima stated, emphasizing convenience and accessibility. She reiterated, “No student or worker should leave their home or travel on account of NERD enrolment. Everything can be completed online, and help is available throughout the process.”

NERD directs Nigerian institutions and organisations to appoint three pivotal officers – the NERD Focal Officer (NFO), NERD Record Officer (NRO), and NERD Digitisation Officer (NDO) – aligning with Federal Government mandates. Galadima outlined roles: NFO represents the chief executive, NRO verifies records under Registrar/CHRO mandates, and NDO furnishes technical support.

“Their presence ensures uploaded records are authentic and duly approved, curbing delays in verifying students and employees,” Galadima explained. Hundreds have completed initial enrolment phases; NERD urges institutions to promptly designate officers for record validation.

Institutional emails bearing .(https://ned.gov.ng) or .(https://ned.gov.ng/onboarding) domains expedite verification. “Students require enrolled lecturers, supervisors, and department heads to authenticate academic submissions digitally,” she noted. Galadima affirmed NERD’s capability for instant academic credential validation upon authorised upload of senate/board-approved data via platform or API.

The digital drive reflects NERD’s push for efficient, technology-driven education management in Nigeria.
