Abuja – The National Committee on Political Sanity and Decorum (NACOPS) has rejected attacks on former Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, describing the diatribe as “unfortunate, uncouth, uncharitable, and unfounded”.

NACOPS President, Oke Ndubuisi, stated that nobody can rubbish Ugwuanyi’s political links with Nyesom Wike, saying “Those who can’t keep friends and maintain relationships cannot call on those who can to follow their disconnected ways of bitterness, rancour, and inconsistencies.”

Ugwuanyi’s traducers are jealous and afraid of the robust partnership between Dr. Ugwuanyi and Mr. Nyesom Wike, the ebullient and performing Minister of the FCT. “Ugwuanyi keeps, maintains, and cherishes friendship and political relationships as a true Christian who does not believe in acrimony, bitterness, and rancour,” Olawiola Victor, National Secretary, NACOPS, said.

Abdullahi’s claims that Ugwuanyi has “reduced himself to a PA and is literally carrying a bag for the FCT Minister” were dismissed by NACOPS. “Ugwuanyi is a politician with class, unbeatable and untramelled political pedigree. His style of politics is robust and devoid of bitterness, rancour, and political antagonism,” Usman Abba, National Publicity Secretary, NACOPS, emphasized.

NACOPS questioned Abdullahi’s credibility to speak on political leaders in Nigeria. “Who is Ibrahim Abdullahi to speak when political leaders of Nigeria are talking? What is his pedigree?” the statement read.

Ugwuanyi and Wike have built a solid relationship over the decade they served as governors. “Their collaboration has proven to be of immense benefit to Nigeria’s socio-political landscape and humanity in general. No amount of jealousy or hatred can sow a seed of bitterness and discord between Ugwuanyi and his closest friend and political ally, Nyesom Wike,” NACOPS concluded.
