OYO COURT UPHOLDS PDP 2025 CONVENTION RESULTS AMIDST TARABA CRISIS
Ibadan, Oyo State – The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has officially upheld the results of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2025 convention, which was held on November 15 and 16, 2025. Justice Ladiran Akintola of Court 5 delivered the ruling on Friday, dismissing requests from Nwachukwu and others who had sought to pause the proceedings. The judgment approved all 13 claims brought by the claimant, Folahan Malomo Adelabi, through his lawyer, Musbau Adetunmbi. This decision legally recognizes the leadership of the party, including the Dr. Taminu Turaki-led National Working Committee elected at the convention. The ruling effectively concludes disputes surrounding the validity of the convention and confirms the party’s internal election results in Ibadan. In related news, the PDP in Taraba State has been plunged into a fresh crisis. A newly formed 16-member State Caretaker Committee has issued a directive for members of the dissolved State Working Committee (SWC) to vacate the party’s state secretariat. Naija News reported on Thursday evening that the directive was made public in a statement by the Caretaker Committee chairman, Dr. Falack Victor. Dr. Victor asserted that the former SWC members "no longer have the right to remain in the secretariat following their removal from office" and warned that non-compliance could lead to legal action against them. He further stated that "remaining in the party office after a lawful dissolution goes against the law."
