The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the appointment of senior officers to key command and staff positions across the Nigerian Army.

The appointments are aimed at reinvigorating leadership, strengthening command structures, and repositioning the Army for heightened operational effectiveness.

Some of the newly appointed senior officers include Major General Bamidele Alabi, who has been appointed Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Jamal Abdulsalam, who has been appointed Chief of Defence Operations at the Defence Headquarters, and Major General Peter Mala, who has been appointed Commander at the Training and Doctrine Command.

The COAS charged the newly appointed senior officers to bring to bear their wealth of operational experience, administrative acumen, and strategic foresight in driving a disciplined and combat-ready Army.

“Uphold the Nigerian Army’s core ethos of loyalty, selfless service, integrity, and excellence,” he said.
