At least 10 people have been killed in separate attacks in Plateau State, Nigeria. The attacks occurred in Kwi community, Riyom Local Government Area, and Pushit community, Mangu Local Government Area, between Friday and Saturday.
According to Rwang Tengwon, a community leader in Kwi, the attack was carried out by suspected Fulani militia, resulting in seven fatalities. “Kwi community was attacked on Friday by suspected Fulani militia, and seven persons were killed. One person was also killed on his farm Saturday afternoon, and another attack happened at night,” Tengwon said.
The Mwaghavul Development Association confirmed the Pushit attack, which claimed three lives. In a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Friday Derwan, the association called on security operatives to take action. “We call upon security operatives in our local government area and Plateau State to rise to the challenge of curbing these unwarranted assaults on innocent lives,” Derwan stated.
Attempts to reach the Plateau State Police Command’s spokesman, Alabo Alfred, were unsuccessful as his phone was reportedly switched off.
