PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS AIR VICE MARSHAL ABUBAKAR IDRIS ADAMU (Rtd) AS CHAIRMAN OF MILITARY PENSIONS BOARD

Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the appointment of retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu of Borno State as Chairman of the Military Pensions Board (MPB), effective 1 December 2025. The appointment is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and efficiency in military pension administration, according to a press release from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Air Vice Marshal Adamu, a seasoned financial expert and senior officer of the Nigerian Air Force, has held several key positions, including Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Deputy Director of Budget at the Defence Intelligence Agency, and Principal Staff Officer, Finance, at the Air Warfare Centre. He commanded the 081 Pay and Accounting Group, served as Director of Finance at NAF Headquarters, and as Managing Director of Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL) and its group of companies. He also served as a Directing Staff at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru.

In the release, President Tinubu was quoted as saying, “I charge the new Chairman to uphold integrity, demonstrate patriotism, and deploy his financial expertise to improve the welfare of military veterans.” The President’s statement underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of retired military personnel.

The Military Pensions Board, responsible for overseeing pension payments and related benefits for armed forces retirees, is expected to benefit from Adamu’s extensive background in finance and military administration.
