Benin City – Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, recently led the state in a grand Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Benin City, as part of 2025 yuletide activities. The event brought together residents, religious leaders, and government officials for worship, reflection, and celebration.
In a statement, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Edo State, Dr. Ebojele Akhere Patrick, said the festival featured soul-lifting carols and scriptural readings underscoring peace, unity, and goodwill. Okpebholo delivered a lesson from Psalm 9:3-7, reflecting on God’s faithfulness and righteousness. “He urged Edo people to continue placing their trust in God while working together to sustain peace, harmony, and progress across the state,” Patrick said.
The Governor reassured residents that Edo State remains safe and secure, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to peace, inclusive governance, and protecting lives and property. Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, described Christmas as “a season of love, sharing, and selfless service, encouraging citizens to embrace values that promote peaceful coexistence and social harmony.”
The festival featured inspiring performances by choristers from various churches, creating a solemn yet celebratory atmosphere. A raffle draw rewarded attendees with prizes, adding excitement. Okpebholo’s message of faith, unity, and peace was widely praised, making the event a fitting prelude to Christmas celebrations in Edo State.
