A devastating explosion rocked a mosque at Gamboru Market in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Tuesday evening around 6pm, killing four people, including a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber. The blast occurred during Maghrib prayers, injuring 32 civilians, with two dying later at hospital and two others critically ill.

“Troops, police, and NEMA responded promptly, securing the area and evacuating casualties to hospitals,” said Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Operation Hadin Kai. Authorities intensified surveillance, urging citizens to remain vigilant, avoid crowds, and report suspicious activities.

The attack, likely linked to Boko Haram, heightens security concerns during yuletide. “We commiserate with families of the deceased and assure continued commitment to safeguarding lives,” Uba added.
