The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed its preparedness to conduct forthcoming elections as scheduled, assuring Nigerians of a credible, peaceful, transparent, and efficient electoral process.

Speaking at a strategic engagement with media executives, INEC chairman Professor Joash Amupitan emphasized that preparations have reached an advanced stage, including the completion of critical electoral activities such as the updating and publication of the final voters register, deployment planning, and the distribution of election materials.

“The media remains an indispensable partner in promoting voter education, transparency, and public confidence in the electoral process,” Amupitan stated. He noted that millions of registered voters are expected to participate across thousands of polling units nationwide, and the Commission is committed to ensuring that every eligible citizen exercises their democratic right without hindrance.

The Commission has put in place robust security measures in collaboration with relevant security agencies to safeguard voters, electoral personnel, and election materials throughout the electoral period. Amupitan expressed appreciation to stakeholders, particularly political parties, civil society organisations, and the media, for their cooperation and support.

Reaffirming the commission’s resolve to build on previous successes, Amupitan assured Nigerians that logistical and operational arrangements are being finalized to prevent delays and ensure seamless conduct of the elections. “Credible elections are a collective responsibility,” he stressed, urging stakeholders to remain committed to peaceful participation and adherence to electoral guidelines.
