Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has criticized the David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for using emotional tactics instead of addressing the party’s legal challenges. Keyamo stated that the faction created the current impasse through their own actions and advised them to expedite legal proceedings, negotiate a political settlement, or explore alternative options.

“The David Mark faction of the ADC appears to believe they can rely on emotional arguments to navigate a legal issue they brought upon themselves. The law does not consider feelings; decisions are determined by facts, evidence, and legal principles, not emotions or political maneuvering,” Keyamo said.

He emphasized that debates over the party’s “status quo ante bellum” were distractions, noting that the ongoing court case led by a duly elected Deputy National Chairman would ultimately determine the party’s leadership. “Until the court delivers a verdict, actions by either faction may prove meaningless after the Independent National Electoral Commission’s deadline for candidate nominations, potentially leaving the ADC without a candidate for upcoming elections,” Keyamo added.

Despite the ADC’s commitment to continue holding congresses and conventions, Keyamo cautioned against underestimating opponents, saying “Never stop your opponent from making a mistake”.
