Abuja, Nigeria – June 12, 2026
Mr. Blessing Oyefeso has been officially decorated as an Ambassador of Electoral Integrity by the African Electoral Integrity Initiative in recognition of his unwavering commitment to promoting democratic values and electoral transparency in Nigeria.
The honour was conferred during a World Press Conference on Electoral Integrity held to commemorate Nigeria’s Democracy Day on June 12, 2026. The event, themed “Sustaining Democratic Trust,” brought together stakeholders, democracy advocates, civil society leaders, youth organizations, and election observers committed to strengthening democratic institutions across Africa.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of the African Electoral Integrity Initiative, Dr. Daniel Omofema, commended Mr. Oyefeso’s dedication to promoting peaceful electoral participation and citizen engagement. He charged the newly decorated Ambassador of Electoral Integrity to remain steadfast in advancing initiatives that support violence-free, transparent, and credible elections throughout the 2027 electoral cycle.
As part of its commitment to strengthening election monitoring mechanisms, the African Electoral Integrity Initiative announced plans to donate a comprehensive Real-Time Election Monitoring Platform. The platform will be equipped with Polling Unit GIS Coordinates, incident reporting capabilities, cloud infrastructure, hardware support, and advanced analytics synchronized with relevant electoral stakeholders.
The initiative is designed to support the deployment of over 300,000 Electoral Guards Observers across Nigeria’s more than 176,000 polling units during the 2027 General Elections. The technology-driven platform is expected to enhance election observation, improve transparency, facilitate rapid incident reporting, and promote public confidence in the electoral process.
Reacting to the honour, Mr. Blessing Oyefeso expressed appreciation to the African Electoral Integrity Initiative for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to working with stakeholders, youth organizations, civil society groups, and democratic institutions to ensure peaceful, violence-free, free, fair, and credible elections in Nigeria.
The decoration further reinforces ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Youths in Politics movement and its partners to mobilize young people as active defenders of democracy, electoral integrity, and national development.
Observers at the conference described the initiative as a significant step toward deepening democratic accountability and strengthening public trust in Nigeria’s electoral system ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Mr. Blessing Oyefeso is the President of Nigeria Youths in Politics, a leading advocate for youth political inclusion and a multiple awards holder.
