He said he is equally delighted that the occasion provides an opportunity to engage with critical stakeholders on matters relating to security, public safety, peace, and sustainable development.
He noted that today is not merely a ceremony for the unveiling of renovated infrastructure, but a demonstration of what can be achieved when the government, the police, well-meaning individuals, and the community work together towards a common goal.
He expressed the profound appreciation of the Nigeria Police Force, Osun State Police Command, to the esteemed benefactor and friends of the police, whose generosity and commitment to community security have made the laudable project possible.
He explained that by upgrading the Police Division through the construction of an observation tower and paint house, the provision of complete perimeter fencing, the installation of a 12KW Hybrid inverter with 16 by 620 solar panels, the construction of entrance gates, and the comprehensive renovation of the entire division, the benefactor has demonstrated an uncommon commitment to the safety and security of the people.
According to him, these interventions go beyond the physical improvement of a police facility. They represent a meaningful investment in public safety, operational efficiency, police personnel welfare, and the protection of lives and property. He added that these improvements are capable of strengthening the division’s operational capacity and supporting a more effective response to security challenges.
“On behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, the management of the Osun State Police Command, and the entire Nigeria Police Force, I express our sincere gratitude to this distinguished friend of the police. Your contribution is highly appreciated, and we hope that your example will inspire other well-meaning individuals, corporate organizations, and community leaders to invest in initiatives that promote peace and security,” he said. He stressed that security is a shared responsibility, and the intervention has given practical expression to that principle.
In his conclusion, he said today’s occasion sends a powerful message that security is strongest when it is supported by partnership, commitment, and collective responsibility.
“To our benefactor, I once again express the profound gratitude of the Osun State Police Command and the Nigeria Police Force for this remarkable contribution. Your generosity has provided infrastructure that will support policing and benefit the wider community. To the traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, youth representatives, business owners, and all other stakeholders present, I urge you to sustain this partnership and remain committed to peace, vigilance, and lawful cooperation with the police. Let the improved facilities be reflected in better service, faster response, stronger crime prevention, and greater public confidence. As Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, I reaffirm our commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven in Osun State. May this project mark the beginning of even stronger cooperation between the police and this community. May peace continue to prevail in this community and throughout Osun State. God bless this community. God bless Osun State. God bless the Nigeria Police Force. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the Commissioner stated.
In a separate address at the commissioning ceremony of the perimeter fence of Ejigbo Police Station with theme When Others Hesitated, One Man Dared, the Deputy Chairman, Osun State PCRC, John A. Okedoye, on behalf of the Police Community Relations Committee, Ejigbo Division, welcomed guests to the commissioning and said the gathering was also to honor the generosity, courage, and commitment of Alhaji Ademola Moccosi.
He gave a brief historical record that the idea to enclose the Station with a perimeter fence first came up in the year 2017 as a result of higher incidence of banditry, bokoharamism, Fulani-herders insurgency and kidnapping. He noted that the occurrence of such attacks in nearby Ikire and Iwo areas made the need urgent, as many other police formations were attacked and in all of them the armoury was the target. To guide against such occurrence, the PCRC Ejigbo Division decided to initiate the building of the perimeter fence.
He said in order to make it happen, letters explaining the seriousness of the situation and indicating all materials needed were written and widely distributed. The height of the preparation was the fund raising and award programme organized on 21st April, 2018. He listed contributors including Alhaji Ajibade who gave the first donation of 2000 blocks, Chief Johnson Oyeyode Olota who gave planks, Pa Joseph Adewole Adeoye, Chairman Carpenters Association Ejigbo, Pa Ramani Adeloye, Chief Hunter of Ejigboland, Tipper Lorries Association which gave sand and gravel and others who contributed in one way or the other like money and cement. However, when all is said and done, more is said than done, he noted.
He stated that Alhaji Ademola Moccosi deserved honour because when others hesitated, he stepped forward, and when expected support did not materialize, he accepted the responsibility and saw the project through to completion. “Sir, when others hesitated, you stepped forward. When expected support did not materialize, you accepted the responsibility and saw the project through to completion. Your action reflects true leadership, selfless service, and genuine love for the community,” he said.
Speaking on the importance of the project, he said security is essential to the peace, progress, and development of every community and the Ejigbo Police Division plays a vital role in protecting lives and property, preventing crime, and maintaining law and order. He added that the perimeter fence will strengthen the security of the station, regulate access, and help protect police personnels, equipment, and property, and by completing it, Alhaji Ademola Moccosi has demonstrated that community security requires practical action, not words alone.
On lesson in leadership, he said the project demanded financial commitment, patience, and determination, and when expected support failed to materialize, it could easily have been abandoned, but Alhaji Ademola Moccosi chose action over excuses and service over convenience. “Where others saw a burden, he saw responsibility. His example reminds us that leadership is not confined to public office. It is also the courage to identify a need, accept responsibility, and provide a lasting solution,” he said.
He said the example should inspire every son and daughter of Ejigbo to support worthy community projects according to their means and the greatest tribute to Alhaji Ademola Moccosi is to continue the spirit of service he has demonstrated.
On duty of government, he acknowledged that the provision and maintenance of police facilities remain the responsibility of government and the relevant authorities and therefore appealed to the police authorities to maintain the facility properly, and to the people of Ejigbo to continue cooperating with the police in promoting peace and security.
Expressing appreciation, he said on behalf of the Police Community Relations Committee, Ejigbo Division, and the entire community, they express sincere appreciation for his generosity, courage and determination. He noted that the contribution is more than a fence, it is an investment in public safety and an enduring example of responsible citizenship, praying that Almighty Allah will reward him abundantly, grant him good health and long life, bless his household, and increase his lawful prosperity.
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, today we celebrate the triumph of determination over hesitation and meaningful service over empty promises. Alhaji Ademola Moccosi has shown that one person can make a lasting difference. Sir, you have not merely built a fence around the Ejigbo Police Station; you have built an example of courage, generosity, and community service. May this project contribute to a safer Ejigbo and inspire others to support the collective good,” he said, thanking Alhaji Ademola Moccosi and praying for long life for the PCRC Ejigbo Division, Osun State, Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force, Ejigboland, Osun State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
