The Progressive Next Generation Initiative has declared support for the senatorial ambition of Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama for Edo South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ogbeide-Ihama, an engineer and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, represented Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2023.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 4, 2026, and signed by its Convener, Jeffery Omoh Ozemegwa, the group described the former lawmaker as a “beacon of hope” and a leader with the capacity to deliver quality representation.
The group commended his contributions to youth empowerment, leadership development, and national growth, noting that his tenure in the National Assembly was marked by impactful legislative engagements.
It highlighted his role as Chairman of the House Committee on Culture and Tourism, as well as his membership of several committees, including Environment and Habitat, Waterways, Power, Basic Education, Housing, and Public Petitions.
The group also lauded his performance as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, where it said he has demonstrated competence and strategic leadership.
According to the statement, Ogbeide-Ihama has continued to champion initiatives focused on empowerment, skill acquisition, and medical outreach through his foundation, impacting youths in Edo State and beyond.
Describing him as “a patriot, visionary leader, and dependable partner in nation-building,” the group said, “The next generation appreciates you. We commend your courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the Nigerian project.”
The convener reaffirmed PNGI’s commitment to promoting informed political participation and leadership accountability within the APC, adding that the group remained a data-driven and advocacy-oriented platform.
PNGI further expressed confidence in Ogbeide-Ihama’s chances of emerging as the party’s candidate, stating that his track record places him ahead of other contenders.
“As Nigeria approaches a critical political period, we remain committed to the ideals of transparency, accountability, and participatory governance in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement added.
The group wished him success in the party’s screening process and expressed optimism about his emergence as the APC flagbearer for Edo South Senatorial District in 2027.
