Reactions as Admission Portal for School of Aviation Opens

The opening of admission portals by several aviation schools across Africa has sparked excitement among aspiring pilots, engineers and aviation professionals, with many applicants praising the digital process and urging early submission.

The East African Civil Aviation Academy, EACAA, Flying School in Soroti opened its application portal on March 23, 2026 at 8:00 AM and closed on June 26, 2026 at 11:59 PM EAT, with admission scheduled for September 2026. The academy said late applications will not be accepted. “Everyone Interested Is urged to apply online not more than the deadline date. Secure a slot for yourself for a better aviation Journey,” the school stated.

Eligibility for Pilot Training and Flight Dispatch requires UCE with five passes including English and Mathematics, UACE with two principal passes, and applicants must be 18 years and above by September 2026. Aircraft Maintenance candidates need UCE with credits in English, Mathematics and Physics, UACE with two principal passes in Physics and Mathematics, and must be 20 years and above. The application fee is set at UGX 100,000 non-refundable, and all documents must be certified.

The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, also activated its online application portal for the 2025/2026 session. NCAT instructed applicants to read admission requirements, register a new account once, generate a transaction ID for payment, and complete the form with biodata, qualifications and course choice. “Please always check to confirm if you are shortlisted,” the college advised. Aeroport College of Aviation has been receiving positive feedback from students since opening its online portal. One student, Ngannah Norman, said, “The school met my expectation, the lectures are grounded and humble, the learning environment is ok, the lecturers are friendly, principled and disciplined.” The college directed applicants to select a programme, agree to the declaration, and make payment via Naira denominated cards, USSD or bank transfer. It warned that registration is incomplete until payment is confirmed by the administrative desk.

The African Aviation and Aerospace University, AAAU, Abuja, also opened postgraduate admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session, running from December 16, 2025 to February 15, 2026. The university promised “World-class education, Industry-relevant programmes, A future driven by innovation and excellence.”

Reactions on social media show many Gen Z applicants are enthusiastic about the digital-only process. EACAA noted that the academy no longer accepts hardcopy applications and now requires all submissions online. “The Academy no longer accept hardcopy applications, you may apply online here,” it said.

Officials of the schools have urged candidates to ensure all fields are correctly filled, upload required documents, and keep proof of payment. Incomplete applications may not be processed, and providing false information or forged documents will lead to immediate disqualification and possible legal action.
