The Spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress in Osun State, Hon. Nureni Adebisi, has described the ADC as the most popular political party in the state, saying it has grown into a force to reckon with within one year and five days of its adoption nationwide under the leadership of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
Adebisi was the guest at the Osun NUJ Guest Platform on Friday.
He opened his remarks by offering condolences to the NUJ Financial Secretary who received news of the death of a close friend about five minutes into the programme.
He also expressed profound gratitude to the national body of the NUJ for its transparency and recent collaborations with security agencies. “I also appreciate the Osun NUJ for this programme which I describe as a beacon of accountability for good governance,” he said.
Responding to panelists’ observation that ADC is described as the third force in the political setting of the state, Adebisi said the party has moved beyond that label. “ADC under the leadership of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola was adopted in the country only one year and five days exactly and has impressively become a force to reckon with in the state. The party has practically become the most popular and has been without rancor, thuggery, violence or social media noise making as other parties are identified with,” he said.
He noted that the party anchors on sound profound principles of vision, ideas and progressiveness. According to him, the ADC enjoys the good legacy and antecedents of Aregbesola who governed the state with a solid plan in place that formed the guiding blueprint for his successful government.
Speaking on the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Najeem Folasayo Salami, Adebisi said the candidate also has a plan that is printed and would serve as a transparent yardstick available to the public. “It will be available to the public to tell if he is truly working or not if and when he gets elected come August 15, 2026,” he said.
Adebisi took a swipe at the flyovers constructed by the present administration, describing them as unnecessary. “They should only have been underpass,” he said.
He highlighted some of the agendas of the party to include robust security with sound policies, non-kinetic approach to crime combat, health and environmental security, workers welfare, agricultural economy and mass empowerment. He reiterated that the ADC candidate plans to be interactive with the people.
The ADC spokesperson also charged the media to investigate what he described as a “dangerous political trade by barter” between Abuja and Osogbo over the local government issues gripping the state. He expressed confusion at why the incumbent governor would still endorse and bow to former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, whom he described as the governor’s “tormentor-in-chief.”
NUJ Osun Council Chairman, Dr Adeyemi Aboderin, thanked the guest and assured that the media would give the information adequate dissemination to the general public without bias.
