The Nigeria Labour Congress has announced the passing of its Secretary General, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja.
The news was confirmed in a brief statement by the congress leadership on Thursday, though details surrounding the exact circumstances and date of his death remain limited at this time.
Comrade Ugboaja was a longstanding figure within the labour movement, serving in various capacities before rising to the role of Secretary General.
In that capacity, he was known for his dedication to workers’ rights and his role in coordinating the union’s administrative and policy functions.
His tenure as Secretary General was marked by efforts to unify the labour movement, particularly during periods of national discourse on economic reforms and social welfare policies.
The NLC described his passing as a significant loss to the labour movement and the nation at large, though a full tribute and arrangements for his funeral are expected to be announced in due course.
