The Rt. Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama Campaign Organisation has issued a statement insisting that its candidate will not be drawn into politics of calumny, insults or personal attacks.

The organisation reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to peaceful, responsible, and issue-based political campaigns.

It said its campaign philosophy has always been centered on communicating ideas, presenting solutions, and demonstrating the capacity to deliver, rather than engaging in personal attacks, name-calling, mudslinging, or the denigration of other candidates.

The campaign organisation, on behalf of Rt. Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, said it is ready to focus more on a campaign philosophy that relates to the people of Edo South.

It said for him it is a reflection of his upbringing, family heritage, and deeply held values.

The statement traced his family lineage, noting that its extensive roots and spread across Ihama of Ihogbe, Ero of Urubi, Oshodin of Oloke, Lawani of Uhi, Evbuesi and Ighuogho lines represents a heritage and responsibility he holds dearly.

“He will never sacrifice the values, norms, and principles upon which he was raised on the altar of political ambition,” the organisation said.

Having served two terms as the representative of Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama believes his record, experience, legislative contributions, and vision provide a compelling basis for his candidacy.

The campaign said it is therefore focused on showcasing his works, capacity, communicating his manifesto, and presenting what Edo South stands to gain from his representation in the Senate.

“We believe the people of Edo South deserve to hear about our antecedence, the ideas, policies, and practical solutions candidates have to offer, not be distracted by unnecessary political hostilities,” the organisation said.

It consequently encouraged all supporters, associates, campaign volunteers, and well-wishers to uphold these values by refraining from insults, personal attacks, inflammatory rhetoric, mudslinging and violence.

“Our responsibility is to sell our candidate’s past performance in Oredo, vision and convince the electorate through the strength of our message,” it said.

“We are running a campaign of ideas, not insults; a campaign of solutions, not sentiments; and a campaign built on capacity and vision, not character assassination,” the organisation added.

It said it is confident of its positive and clean history, hence its demand that campaigns be issue based.

The Ogbeide-Ihama Campaign Organisation remains committed to a peaceful, respectful, and issue-based campaign.

“Let us focus on the issues. Let us sell the vision. Let our values guide our politics,” it stated.

The statement was signed by Jeffrey Omon Ozemegwa, Head Planning and Strategy, Ogbeide-Ihama Campaign Organisation.
