Resident Doctors in Nigeria have declared a total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike effective November 1, 2025, over unresolved grievances.

The President of the National Association of Resident Doctors, Dr Mohammed Usman Suleiman, announced the strike, accusing the government of demarketing their certificates to prevent them from traveling abroad.

The doctors are demanding the immediate commencement of specialist allowance payments, correction of entry-level placements, and decentralization of promotion processes.

In a communique, Dr Suleiman directed members to do a ward round and hand over patients to consultants, warning President Bola Tinubu to be cautious of politicians surrounding him who may be deceiving him.

The strike is expected to impact healthcare services nationwide, with the doctors citing 19 unresolved issues, including inadequate infrastructure and poor working conditions.
