Abuja – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed Mr. Michael Ango from his role as Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT‑IRS). The decision was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Public Communication and Social Media.
In the release, Olayinka said the most senior official of the FCT‑IRS has been instructed to assume leadership of the revenue agency with immediate effect. “The most senior official of the FCT‑IRS has also been directed to take over the running of the revenue agency with immediate effect,” the statement quoted Olayinka as saying.
The press release did not specify the reasons behind the dismissal, but it noted that the change is effective immediately. No further details were provided regarding the appointment of a permanent replacement for the acting chairman.
The FCT‑IRS is responsible for collecting taxes and other revenues within the Federal Capital Territory. The sudden leadership change comes as the agency continues to play a crucial role in funding the administration of the nation’s capital.
