Abuja – Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, Ignatius Kaigama, has called on the Federal Government to ensure economic policies are guided by compassion, justice, and human consequences, not just figures and projections. In his Christmas message, Kaigama emphasized that Nigerian leaders should prioritize restoring security and safeguarding lives over political ambitions.
“Government at both national and sub-national levels must demonstrate sincerity of purpose, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to the security and welfare of all citizens, irrespective of faith, ethnicity, or location,” Kaigama said.
He advised that the implementation of new tax laws in 2026 should be human-centred, prioritizing enhancement of life over degradation. “Leaders should lead with integrity and courage,” he added, urging them to focus on urgent national imperatives rather than “fixation on winning or losing future elections.”
