First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu welcomed Nigeria’s Baby of the Year 2026, a girl born at midnight on January 1 at Federal Medical Centre, Abuja, to Mr. and Mrs. Celestine Adakole. The baby, Zion Adakole, was delivered via caesarean section to 26-year-old first-time mother Patience Adakole.

Tinubu described Zion’s birth as “symbolic, marking both the birth of a new year and promise of new beginnings”. She also visited triplets born to Mr. and Mrs. Blessing Oragwu on December 29, 2025, after 13 years of marriage, presenting gifts and cash.

“2026 will be a great year for us as a nation, peace in abundance, prosperity in abundance,” Tinubu said, urging Nigerians to be generous and compassionate. She emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to creating an environment where every Nigerian child thrives.

The First Lady was accompanied by dignitaries, including Vice President’s wife Hajiya Nana Shettima and Minister of Women Affairs Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.
