The Ataoja of Osogboland, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, hosted the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rasheed Ladoja as Governor Ademola Adeleke commissioned the newly constructed five-span Lameco Overhead Bridge and roundabout in Osogbo on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
The commissioning ceremony marked the official opening of the landmark infrastructure project executed by the Adeleke administration.
The Osun State Government had earlier announced a temporary closure of all roads leading to the Lameco Flyover Bridge before 7am on Wednesday to ensure orderliness and public safety during the event.
“This temporary road closure is to ensure orderliness, public safety, and smooth coordination during the official commissioning ceremony of landmark projects executed by Governor Ademola Adeleke, with the event headlined by the commissioning of the five-span Lameco Overhead Bridge,” the government said in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Bashir Bello.
The Lameco project is part of Governor Adeleke’s multi-billion naira infrastructure plan aimed at easing traffic congestion in the state capital.
The dualisation of Old Garage Roundabout to Okefia Roundabout to Lameco Roundabout, Osogbo, commenced alongside other road projects across the state.
Government officials said the flyover was designed to address growing traffic around major routes and reduce accidents in the Olaiya axis.
Governor Adeleke said his administration was committed to completing and delivering critical infrastructure. “At the inception of our administration, I had promised my God and the people of Osun state that I would not abandon projects inherited from my predecessors.
It is my considered view that public projects are public assets which must not be wasted on the altar of political vendetta,” he said.
The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, Laaroye II welcomed the Olubadan and other dignitaries to the ceremony.
The monarch had earlier commended government efforts to prioritise infrastructure and improve the welfare of residents.
Traditional rulers and community leaders attended the event alongside top government officials.
Security agencies and traffic management officials were deployed to direct traffic and maintain public order throughout the commissioning.
The government urged motorists and commuters to use alternative routes during the ceremony and thanked residents for their cooperation.
“The government appreciates the understanding, patience, and cooperation of members of the public as Osun State continues to advance infrastructure development for the benefit of all,” the statement added.
